Making my list, checking it twice

It's been hard getting into the Christmas spirit this year. I'm not sure why. I generally love shopping and am always ready for a party. I've tried everything, but not even watching "Elf" and "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation" has helped. For some reason, I just can't shake this bah-humbug feeling.

So, what do you do to shake the blahs? When clients share these feelings with me, I often tell them to talk to their donors or, even better, interview those who are benefitting from their work. Hearing how your hard work is truly making a difference in the world helps keep your eyes on the prize.

Another way to banish the blues?  Make a list of everything you are grateful for, and I mean everything, and read over it every day.  Being thankful for all you have keeps things in perspective and helps you realize how lucky you really are.

If those tips don't work, then there is always eggnog and rum cake to help you get through the holidays.
